The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two men over alleged transnational drug trafficking and recovered 197 sachets of Tramadol in a border operation.
The suspects, identified as Muhammad Mustapha, 32, of Dorayi in Kano, and Muhammad Sanusi, 48, of Garoua in Garoua, Cameroon, were apprehended by operatives of the Border Patrol Unit in Fufore Local Government Area during a routine operation.
Police said the suspects were found in possession of 197 sachets of Tramadol, a controlled opioid commonly abused for non-medical purposes.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the consignment was transported from a South-Eastern state and routed through Adamawa with plans to smuggle it across the border into Cameroon before it was intercepted.
Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended officers of the Border Patrol Unit for their vigilance and professionalism. He has directed the Command’s Monitoring Unit to take over the case for further investigation and necessary legal action.

The Command reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and other trans-border crimes, assuring residents of sustained efforts to secure the state’s borders and curb illicit activities.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola.
